Description

Su Wu (140 BC – 60B C) was a minister of the Western Han Dynasty, an outstanding diplomat and a national hero. In the first year of the Tian Han Dynasty (100 BC), he was sent on a mission to the Xiongnu. Civil unrest broke out with the Xiongnu’s community and unfortunately he was implicated and detained. The Xiongnu aristocrats threatened and enticed him to surrender many times, but Su Wu swore to die and never changed his mind, and he held the festival for nineteen years, unswerving in his commitment. His dedication to his country and steadfastness to his beliefs are virtues that our descendants should emulate and pass on. Participating in the public ceremony not only expresses our remembrance for the sage, but also inspire the Su descendants to inherit the legacy of their ancestors and devote themselves to spreading of the Su culture.
