Annual General Meeting 2017 cum Scholarship and Bursary Presentation Ceremony

The Annual General Meeting for the year 2017 was held on April 23rd at 11:00 AM at Ban Heng Restaurant in Harbour Front. A total of 160 members and their families attended. The General Affairs department presented a report on the activities and affairs of the previous year, with the financial report being audited and approved by the Alpes Assurance LLP accounting firm. The annual financial statements were also approved by the meeting. During his address, the President emphasized the following points:

  1. Throughout the year, the plan is not only to visit the homes of members but also to visit other non-member Su family relatives, understand the members’ requirements and expectations of the association, and listen to their feedback to better improve the affairs of the association.

2. To standardize the internal administrative management of the association, establish an association website for better, timely, and effective dissemination of association news and information; strengthen the connection between members and the association.

Establish scholarship funds for diligent students and increase the amount distributed. The goal is to encourage more young students to join, making the association more youthful.

3. Establish a fund for the elderly to reflect the significance of respecting the elderly and wise, creating a warm atmosphere for the elders in the Soh family.

4. Organize more activities to promote interaction among relatives, allowing more Soh family members to get to know the association, attract more Soh family members to join, and strengthen the association.

During his speech, the Mutual Benefit Association President, Ji Rui, mentioned that the board members would cooperate fully with various activities of the association. While actively recruiting new members, the Mutual Benefit Association would encourage them to join, increasing the number of members and making the association’s activities more vibrant. He also appealed to family members to allocate valuable time to participate in condolence activities, increasing the number of condolence teams to provide more psychological comfort to the families of the deceased. At the meeting, awards were presented for this year’s member’s children’s diligence scholarship and financial aid. There were 23 recipients in total with outstanding academic achievements: 13 in the primary school category, each receiving $150; 5 in the secondary school category, each receiving $200; 3 in the junior college category, each receiving $300; and 2 in the technical college category, each receiving $300. One member’s child from a financially disadvantage background received a scholarship of $300. After the meeting, a member dinner was held where family members interacted warmly, welcomed new members, and enjoyed a lively and joyful atmosphere.
